Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for birth & perinatal debriefing and counselling sessions with a referral from your GP.

To be eligible (as per Medicare rules) you must have been pregnant within the last 12 months. This includes women who are:

  • Currently pregnant 
  • Experienced a pregnancy loss in the last 12 months 
  • Have a baby under 12 months of age

You must obtain your GP referral before the date of your first appointment.

 

Out of Pocket Costs

With this referral, you are entitled to 3 sessions that will attract a Medicare rebate of approximately $72.55 per session.

Birth & Perinatal Debriefs (90 min): $220 ($147.45 out of pocket cost)

Counselling (60 min): $150 ($77.45 out of pocket cost)
Counselling (90 min) $220  ($147.45 out of pocket cost)

Getting Your GP Referral


Talking to your GP can feel a bit daunting, but mental health is actually one of the most common reasons that people in Australia see their GP. Your GP is likely experienced in having these conversations and can help you get the support you need.
